2007 KING OF THE ICE APPLICATION

The FDNY Hockey Team's 2006-2007 season is underway and it looks very promising.  This year the team has a couple new additions to the roster.  They will be starting the season by changing their practice facility to the new Aviator Sports Complex in Brooklyn. http://www.aviatorsports.com 

Once again we will be playing in the men's league at Chelsea Piers in the Elite Division.  On October 22, some players attended the Annual Stars, Stripes and Skates Event at the Nassau Coliseum with professional figure skaters to benefit the children of 9/11 FDNY and NYPD families.  Around the holidays there will also be the annual skate at Rockefeller Center Skate for the Widows and Childrens Fund.  

 

The 2007 year will start as they will be off to Orlando,  Florida for the 4th Annual Central Florida Firefighters Hockey Tournament from January 8-11. hHere they will attempt to win their 4th straight first place championship.  Also in January, six members of the team will attend the US Pond Hockey Championships on Lake Calhoun in Minnesota on January 19-21. http://www.uspondhockey.com/page/home.jsp

In February they will travel to Canada, to the Toronto Fire Department Tournament on February 26 to March 2.  The annual Guns-n-Hoses Tournament will take place in Boston at Boston University  sometime in March.  The year will come to an end with the 34th Annual FDNY vs NYPD game at the Nassau Coliseum which will take place on March 24 at 1:00pm.
